Snobirds:

  • Again this year there will be work at the new zoo. It will be the same kind of work as last year, light carpentry work, painting and arranging. If you have a cordless drills and have room to bring it and any other SMALL tools, that would be great. If you are interested in doing some work, would you e-mail me and give me your name, phone and e-mail address. I will contact you with the days of work. Workers can work when ever work is scheduled. You can work as little or as much as they want. They will be work for both men and women. Any questions e-mail me at wissnobirds@yahoo.com.
  • Coming up is the first lunch of this Snowbird season. Lunch will be at Papa Rocco's, Wednesday November 20th at 11:30. There is NO sign-up, you just show up and enjoy lunch and catching up with fellow Wisconsin Snobirds.
  • Speaking of bring down stuff, here is a reminder: To bring something from your area of Wisconsin to donate to the Trivia Night and the 8 Pin Tap Bowling Tournament. The following message is from Tom Donovan, about the Cetacean Nature Cruises. - Kenn

Fellow Snobirds

The response to the Cetacean Nature Cruises has been over whelming. Within four days of the notice being sent out by Kenn, the first tour was filled. We added a second cruise on Saturday afternoon and then to accommodate those who sent checks via mail, we added two more on Sunday afternoon, February 23, at 1:00 PM and again at 3:30 PM. All filled. We are now adding names to a waiting list. If you haven’t yet sent your check in and we have confirmed a spot for you, please do send the checks to me. We will hold them until February before depositing. Maureen and I will be available at all Club meetings starting in early January to confirm your slot and answer any questions. Thank You to all who have confirmed for us that this Wisconsin Snobird club is the best.

Snobirds:

We have all driven over the inter-coastal bridges in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Perhaps we have wondered, What does it look like from the water?, or How big are those barges?

Now we will have the opportunity to find out. On Saturday, February 22, 2020, the Wisconsin Club is sponsoring a Narrated Canal Nature Tour on Cetacean Cruises. We will leave at 10:30 AM for a one and half hour cruise on the 35 passenger Explorer pontoon boat from the Wharf docks. An additional cruise has been reserved for 1:00 PM is demand is warranted. The cruise will travel east on the waterway into Wolf Bay where some dolphin sightings may occur. Then over to Barber Marina to see if the Lady of the Lake is sunbathing today. After that , perhaps a short ride into one of the estuaries.

Restrooms, adult beverages and snacks will be available on board. The boat is partially covered and part open to the sun which we hope we will have.

The cost is $20.00 per person, tax and tip included. Reservations and payments should be made until Dec. 15 to: Tom Donovan, 5281 Tumblebrook Dr.; Oshkosh, WI 54904 After Dec. 15, Please bring payments to the club meetings. I will be at all Snobird Club meetings starting Jan. 8, 2020 to accept reservations and payments. Please include your contact information here and in Alabama. Questions??, I can be reached at: donovan@new.rr.com.

  • FYI - Canal Road Work Update: A single-lane closure on Canal Road, between Ace Hardware and Cosmo’s, is scheduled to continue through next week. This road work, associated with ALDOT’s widening of Canal Road, has required that section of the northerly westbound lane to remain closed. Also, Canal Road will be limited to one eastbound and one westbound lane on Tuesday, October 8th, for Orange Beach Water Authority to complete the installation of a waterline crossing just west of the Cypress Village entrance. What to expect next week: Both eastbound lanes and the center turn lane on Canal Road, west of the Cypress Village entrance and in front of the new school construction site, will be closed as the waterline is installed from 6 a.m.-6 p.m on Tuesday, October 8th. Both westbound lanes will be open for bi-directional traffic through the work zone. Please use caution in all work zones.
