Wisconsin Snobirds

Sept. 19, 2020

Snobirds:

  • Tom Chestnut, Membership Chairperson asked that I pass along his Thank You to those people that are sending their Registration to him in September. Tom ask that if you have not sent in your Registration that you send it in  October, or November.  It makes his job more enjoyable and easier while in Alabama. Remember that the Wisconsin Snobird Club had 840 plus members last season. So lets make Tom job easier by sending in your registration now.  If you have not receives your pre registration packet in the mail, please send me a e-mail and I will e-mail you a packet. It is the same packet you would have received in the mail. REMINDER:  Save your plastic sleeve for your new name tags.  A self addressed stamped envelope will get your name tags mailed to you or you can pick up your tag at the first meeting you attend.  Thanks Tom Chestnut
  • Don't forget Angel Tree: This year we have included a place on your registration form to make a donation to The Angel Tree. This is because we are not sure if we will be having some or all of our meetings this winter. The Angel Tree buys gift cards for the Foster Children of Baldwin County, children that normally would not have a Christmas. Please include you donation along with your membership.
  • Cards are played on Friday mornings at the Gulf Shores American Legion. That said we still need someone to take Chuck's place overseeing the Friday morning card playing. If you are interested please e-mail me.
  • Just sharing: (Camp Dixie is where Chicken Dinner is served one Sunday a Month to raise money to run the camp)

Good morning from Camp Dixie!  God is good all the time!  The great news is that Mike and Barbara are well and good!  The bad news is the Camp did sustain significant damage and is going to need a lot of effort to repair and clean up the mess.  We are currently assessing the damage and prioritizing the repair needs.  Suffice to say, it will be a long list!  If you have resources to offer, whether financially or workers, please send us a message through FB right now and we will respond.  The camp is without power and internet and cellular phone service isn’t dependable yet.  Please keep the Camp and the Camp’s neighboring communities in your prayers.  This will be a long recovery but we know God is with us through and after the storm!

  • Don't forget:  (see September 15th e-mail for more details)

Snobirds:

More Things

As you may have guessed this winter is going to be a very different one.  Things that have been normal will not be happening, and other things will become the normal for this Snowbird Season. To help you make decisions I am going to try to let you know what is happening on the Gulf Coast as regards to Snowbird Activities.

  • Angel Tree: This year we have included a place on your registration form to make a donation to The Angel Tree. This is because we are not sure if we will be having some or all of our meetings this winter. The Angel Tree buys gift cards for the Foster Children of Baldwin County, children that normally would not have a Christmas. Please include you donation along with your membership.
  • No decision has been made on Trivia Night. However as most of you know the Wisconsin Club has donated items from Wisconsin to make two baskets for the silent raffle at Trivia Night. Because of the uncertainty of the event happening Patty Calderaro and I have decided NOT to collect items this year. Thank you for your donations in the past years.
  • If you are not coming to the Gulf Coast this winter and want to keep up your Wisconsin Club Membership, just fill out your registration form and mail it to the membership Chairperson along with the registration fee and do consider a donation to the Angel Tree.

More to come

STAY SAFE

Snobirds:

  • No TRIPS: In the pre-registration packet that you should receive this week or have already received, it says that there is a list of bus trips with Casino Connections. This is incorrect, Casino Connection will not be running any bus trips this winter because of Covid 19. The exception would be if by some miraculous turn of events the virus is stopped, they may schedule a few trips. This would be communicated later in 2021.
  • 8 Pin Tap Bowling Tournament Fund Raiser for Christian Services has been cancelled for the 2021 Snowbird season. The cancellation is of course because of the corona virus. This is the only fund raiser cancelled so far.
  • The two Wisconsin Golf Fun Days  have not been scheduled. Plans are to schedule one or both of them if conductions are right to have have lunch indoors along with the raffle of prizes. When you send in your registration fees DO NOT send money for the Golf Fun Days.  We will collect the money if one or both Fun Days are scheduled.
  • As you can tell we are hoping to be able to do some club events this winter, The most important thing is the whatever we do it is done safely or we will not hold the event.
  • We are still looking for someone to help with the Friday Card Playing. Chuck Wilfer will not be down this year because he had heart surgery.  Please contact me.

STAY SAFE

Snobirds:

The Checks in the mail.

Now that I have your attention, this year's Pre Registration Packets have been mailed. You should receive yours in a day or two or you may have already received your packet. Please fill out the registration form and the survey sheet and mail them back to Tom Chestnut, chairperson of the membership committee.
Please note that because of the possibility of us not having some or all of our meetings this year, there is a place on the registration form to make your donation to the "ANGEL TREE"There is also a letter included that describe how your board members will be handling all Snobirds events this year. So far all lunches and breakfast and Thanksgiving Dinner have been cancelled. Our first event will be Christmas dinner. Conditions concerning the virus will dictate all feature events.

Card Players: Chuck Wilfer had successful heart surgery a few weeks ago. He is doing great, but he feels that he and Darlis will not be coming to the Gulf Coast this year. That said we are looking for a person to head up the Monday card playing. This person will need to over see the Monday card playing. The Monday cards will be all scheduled with the American Legion Post 44.  If you feel you can do this so that Monday card playing can continue please contact me. Chuck will coach you on any question you may have.

Any questions or if you would like to be in charge of the card playing e-mail me.

Thank You
STAY SAFE

July 28, 2020

Snobirds:

Well it has been awhile since I have sent a e-mail. I hope that everyone is being safe and that no one has tested positive for the virus.

Tom Chestnut, Membership Chairperson asked that this e-mail be sent out asking, that if any Snobirds have moved and have a different address or a PO BOX number that you e-mail him with your new address.

The reason is that he and the membership committee will soon be starting the mailing of the Wisconsin Snobird Club Pre-Registration Packet. We mail the packet out BULK MAIL (much cheaper), that means that if you had a address change and did not notify him of your new address you will not receive your Pre-Registration Packet. Bulk Mail is not forwarded by the USPS.

Please e-mail Tom tac.smc.14@gmail.com with your address change as soon as possible.

Thank You:  Stay Safe.
